Ahmedabad : 589 Students Get Degree at Cept University Convocation

Ahmedabad: 

CEPT University celebrated its 20th convocation on Saturday, awarding degrees to a total of 589 students. The graduating cohort included one PhD scholar, 196 undergraduates, and 392 postgraduate students. Additionally, 45 students were honored with the University Award of Proficiency for their exceptional performance.

The convocation featured Prof. Ashoke Chatterjee, a design educator and former executive director of NID, as the chief guest.

During the ceremony, Prof. Barjor Mehta, President of CEPT University, announced the launch of a new MBA program in Real Estate, which will be offered by the university’s Faculty of Management. “This course addresses the growing need for professionals capable of navigating the expanding formal real estate sector in India,” Mehta stated. He added that the program would leverage the strengths of architecture, urban planning and design, structural engineering, construction, and project management.

The university also conferred honorary doctorates (Honoris Causa) upon Prof. Rasik Shah and Prof. Vidyadhar Phatak in recognition of their significant contributions to structural engineering and urban planning, respectively.

Sanjay Lalbhai, Chairman of CEPT University, highlighted that the graduates are entering a professional world increasingly shaped by climate urgency and artificial intelligence, emphasizing the importance of technology supporting human judgment rather than replacing it.

Prof. Chatterjee, in his address, remarked that meaningful architecture should reflect emotional resonance and ethical grounding.
