IIT Gandhinagar Partners with Ethiopian Ministry to Start Joint Doctoral Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to introduce a Multidisciplinary International Quality Improvement Doctoral Degree Program (MIQMDDP). The collaboration is being viewed as a significant step in expanding the institute’s academic engagement with the African continent.The initiative is designed to strengthen educational ties between India and Ethiopia through joint PhD research, academic exchanges, and co-supervision of scholars. Under this programme, Ethiopian students will have the opportunity to pursue doctoral studies with guidance, expertise, and academic resources from both participating institutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed at IITGN by Director Prof. Rajat Moona. The signing ceremony was attended by senior faculty members and administrators from IITGN, including Prof. Surya Pratap Mehrotra, Faculty In-charge of External Relations. Also present was Prof. Krishnaraj Ramaswamy, Joint PhD Coordinator for the Ethiopian Ministry of Education and Principal Scientific Advisor at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
