Nirma University Convocation Highlights Importance of Lifelong Learning

At the 34th convocation ceremony of Nirma University in Ahmedabad, a total of 2,936 students were awarded degrees, including 50 PhD scholars, 1,055 postgraduate students, and 1,831 undergraduates.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr. Neville G. Pinto, President of the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, stressed that continuous learning has become a necessity in today’s rapidly evolving world.

He noted that the pace of global change is accelerating, fueled by advancements in technology, artificial intelligence, and increasing global connectivity. According to Dr. Pinto, future success will not be defined merely by accumulated knowledge, but by the ability to think creatively and pursue innovation with confidence.

He further explained that leading organisations of the future will be those that effectively combine human intelligence with machine capabilities, allowing both to enhance one another. This growing integration, he said, will further speed up transformation across industries.

Dr. Pinto emphasised that education should not end with the awarding of a degree. While knowledge will continue to be a key driver of success, its true value will depend on how consistently individuals update and expand their skills. In such a landscape, lifelong learning is no longer a choice but an essential part of professional and personal growth.
