Gujarat Technological University Initiates Investigation into PhD Plagiarism Case

Ahmedabad

Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has launched a formal investigation into a significant PhD-related controversy involving Keyur Shah. Shah is alleged to have submitted a fraudulent journal research paper as part of his PhD requirements and is also reportedly linked to the CCC exam fraud.

According to GTU regulations, if it is confirmed that Shah submitted a fake research paper to obtain his PhD, his degree may be revoked. Any revocation of a degree, however, requires formal approval from the university’s academic council and board of governance, as stated by an official.

The investigation follows Shah’s suspension, which occurred after irregularities in the computer concepts course (CCC) were discovered. The exam coordinator revealed that marks had been altered in the IT department after Shah had prepared results for the government employee exam. A probe panel has identified that the marks of 39 candidates had been tampered with.

GTU has confirmed that it is taking the matter seriously and will follow due process to determine the outcome. The investigation underscores the university’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that all research and examination processes are conducted transparently and fairly.
