Queen’s University, Belfast Set to Open First Offshore Campus in Gujarat’s GIFT City
Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), a prestigious UK institution established in 1845, is set to establish its first international offshore campus in India at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). This marks a significant milestone, as it will be the first campus of a UK university in the country. Earlier, two Australian universities — Deakin University and the University of Wollongong — began operations in GIFT City during the previous academic year.
The new QUB campus will be the largest international branch campus in the smart city, covering approximately 145,000 square feet within a ten-storey building. The academic session at the campus is scheduled to begin in January 2026, and the university started accepting online applications from January 30.
Meanwhile, another UK institution, Coventry University, has also expressed interest in setting up its own international branch campus in GIFT City, indicating growing global academic engagement in the region.
